Liberalization measures have benefited both developed and developing countries in terms of expansion of market size, inflow of foreign capital high growth rate etc. However, it has also brought sever social problem of unemployment and income and wealth inequality. The present book in this backdrop presents a comprehensive critical review literature and tests empirically the hypothesis whether in the case of India liberalization measures have been effective in reducing or increasing wage inequality, particularly in the manufacturing sector.
