It has long been known that the uptake of high fat content & their deposition leads to atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is referred to as a silent killer, is one of the leading causes of death in the developed countries. The treatment of hyper lipidamia is considered. To be one of the major approaches towards decelerating the atherogenic process. Recently herbal hypolidemia has gained importance to fill the lunac created by allopathic drugs. The results of various studies have revealed that feeding of atherogenic diet leads to increased serum total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and decreased HDL cholesterol. Coconut and coconut oil has been the subject of controversy for mearly three decades. Very extreme conclusions have been taken on the consumption of coconut oil. There has been a tendency to establish a link between coconut and coronary artery desire without taking in to view the various other factors that contribute to the incidence of cardiovascular disease.
