Refractive Error in School Children: the Case of Cape Coast Municipality, Ghana
Godwin Ovenseri-ogbomo
Globally, refractive error remains a public health problem. It is one of the leading causes of avoidable blindness. One major set back in controlling this easily preventable cause of visual impairment is the lack of data on the distribution of refractive error among various population groups especially in developing countries. The present work utilizes the Refractive Error Study in Children (RESC) protocol to determine the prevalence of refractive error among school children in the Cape Coast Municipality of Ghana. It is hoped that this modest attempt will be useful for planning school eye health in the country.
