The major focus of this study was to evaluate the continuity and change in livelihood strategy of the Pode community living within Sawal-Bahal and Kirtipur area of urban localities. Traditional occupations of Pode communities have sweeping, fishing, basket making (knitting) and priest but, now-a-days they are further involving in other occupations like jobs such in driving, plumbing and shopkeepers. This indicates a change as well as diversification in the economy in the changing environment. Regarding the livelihood strategies of households most people survived from daily wage labour. they work as sweepers and sanitary workers. Similarly driving, plumbing and grocery shops are also another activities for sustain their lives. Technological development in the field of sanitary works and other competitor community is making the traditional occupation of the community into vulnerable position. They haven't made any efforts to search for the new options of livelihoods which has led them to live a miserable life.
