Urban Heritages in Addis Ababa: the Perception of Addis Ababa People About Urban Heritages of the City Asmeret Gebrehiwet

Ethiopia?s natural and cultural heritage permeates every facet of daily life and provides a power full and socially cohesive force in the national consciousness. It can provide a major attraction for tourists and is important element in the development of tourist industry. However, the problems which arise following the urbanization process have been affecting the existence and the value of urban heritage. This book tries to review some documents about the city?s prestige and the risk that is overwhelming as a result of the fast growing urbanization process. This book has also asses the perception of the duelers of the city about its heritages in which the data was collected in 2002. The samples for the study were selected to be Piazza and Merkato which are among the well known places with several heritage symbols of the city.
