What are the most telling factors that determine the morale of faculty in a university or college? Does the size of the institution make faculty more vulnerable/immune to morale issues? Are work conditions, salary packages and tenure issues major determinants of faculty morale? What impact does the leadership style of senior administrators have on the morale of faculty? Is the morale of faculty more likely to be higher in Church-run tertiary institutions than those run by other bodies, both public and private? If the tertiary institutions are owned and run by the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, if they all happen to be in the South Pacific region, and if they are all small institutions, do these factors make a difference in the morale of faculty? What part does faculty members? commitment to their Church ? and to God ? have in the morale equation? These questions, and more, are explored in this study of faculty morale in the four tertiary institutions owned and run by the SDA Church in the South Pacific ? Avondale College of Higher Education, NSW; Pacific Adventist University, PNG; Fulton College, Fiji; and Sonoma College, PNG.
