Sports Participation: Motivation, Family Socialization and Gender: a Study of Determinants of Sports Participation Among Adolescent Priyamvada Srivastava

Understanding peoples motives for involvement in Physical activity sheds lights on individual?s decision process for taking part in sports and physical activities, adolescents perceptions about their participation in sports is influenced by their parents involvement, as their positive attitude provides encouraging feedback about their sports activity. The relationship of sports participation with family socialization motivation and gender has been discussed in present book. The findings reveal gender differences in sports participation attitude. The male adolescent show high inclination towards the sports participation. Mothers induced worry climate, parents learning enjoy climate, contribute negatively in development of sports participation attitude. Team atmosphere and energy release components of participation motivation significantly contribute in development of sports participation attitude. The findings of the book are very much significant for parents of school going adolescents, as they are the important facilitator in shaping the attitude of their children.
