The study was to find out the effects of Education Acts on Basel Mission Education in the Gold Coast / Ghana from 1950 to 2007. Primary and secondary data were collected for the qualitative study. The research instruments used were interviews, document analysis, observations and focus group discussions. The data analysis revealed that the Basel Mission had a pietistic philosophy based on the ideas of Philip Jacob Spener. It also had a theology of work, stewardship, humanity, education, language, worship, marriage and family based on 16th century Reformation of Martin Luther and John Calvin. These influenced the mission to introduce a unique educational system between 1844 and 1950. However, between 1950 and 2007, the introduction of different Education Acts altered the structure, curriculum and management of the Basel Mission Education. Besides, the mission had negative attitude towards secondary education. The study recommends that government promotes: Vocational Education; Religious Education; ?Manpower? Approach to education; English Language study for the sake of globalization; and faith-based organizations to invest in human capital; not in human institutions.
