Cystic fibrosis is a serious inherited disease which mainly affects the lungs and pancreas, but can involve other organs. Symptoms usually begin in early childhood and include persistent cough, wheeze, repeated chest infections, malabsorption of food, and general ill health. The cystic fibrosis is cause by due to environmental and genetical factors. Ireland has the highest ratio of cystic fibrosis in the world; 2.98 per 10,000 - and the highest carrier rate in the world with 1 in 19 individuals classed as carriers. It can be Diagnosis by Sweat test, Genetic test, Screening test. There are many aspects to the treatment of people with cystic fibrosis. Treatment involves the input, advice, and expertise of various professionals such as child health doctors, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians, counselors and psychologists as well as primary health care team.
