Volumetric miniaturization, compactness, light weight, low cost, low loss, improved efficiency, multiband EM responses are basic design-application issues for innovative technique used for microstrip patch antennas(MSA). Current trend in modern researches is to use double negative metamaterial as substrate to meet the stringent requirements. MSAs inherently have narrow bandwidth.
