Shumeli Deyessa
Oral health is one of the most overlooked areas of health in Ethiopia. The fact that very few researches were conducted in this area is a reflection of this neglect. This study is a humble contribution to the Dental Health advancement of Ethiopia while it explores the knowledge, attitude and practice of school children as crucial parts of oral health. This quantitative study was conducted in two schools using a self-administered, structured questionnaire among 182 students who were randomly selected with stratified probability sampling technique. The study identified significant relationship of age, sex, socioeconomic status, and school type with oral health knowledge, attitude and practice of school children. It also proposes decisive measures that should be taken in family, school and health professional levels to ameliorate the oral health of school children in Ethiopia.
