In reality modeling rely on the knowledge that we have, whether they are real or imaginary, naive or sophisticated, our mental models are often constructed on fragmentary information, based on a partial understanding of what is happening and naive psychology. Most research on mental modeling focused on the study of cognitive processes that occur in the human mind in specific situations of solving problems. The book attempts to offer a theoretical and methodological foundation for some of the mental modeling issues in the context of human-outside world interaction. A short review of the literature in the field of mental models proves that despite the successful implementing of mental models theory in computer systems design and cognitive psychology this aspect of cognitive functioning is far from being clarified.
