English summary: In the 11th and 12th century, Tibetan culture experienced numerous innovations: Buddhism took root on the Tibetan plateau and developed the great schools of thought. At the same time, Tibetan Buddhism created important genres of Buddhist literature. The "Dharma in Examples" of Po-to-ba Rin-chen-gsal is an early example of the "path to enlightenment" or "lam rim" genre that developed in this period. Po-to-ba combined elements from Indian Buddhism with indigenous Tibetan elements, such as anecdotes, proverbs and stories about his contemporaries and thus constitutes a highly interesting source in the cultural history of this period. The monograph offers an extensive introduction to the religious and intellectual context as well as the first translation of "The Dharma in Examples" in European language. English Description: During the 11th and 12th centuries, Tibetan culture underwent fundamental changes. It was during this period that Buddhism became firmly rooted on the Tibetan plateau and its major traditions originated. At the same time, Tibetan Buddhist teachers and scholars created new and influential genres of Buddhist literature. One of these teachers is Po-to-ba Rin-chen-gsal, whose instructions on the "graded path" (to awakening) are one of the earliest specimens of the im-portant lam rim genre. Po-to-ba combines elements of Indian Buddhism with indigenous Tibetan elements, such as local anecdotes, proverbs and stories about contemporary teachers, which makes his dPe chos ("Dharma exemplified") a highly interesting source for the cultural history of this period. This monograph contains the first translation of this work into a Western language and provides a detailed study of the Indian and Tibetan context of Po-to-ba's instructions on the graded path. Jahrhundert zahlreiche Neuerungen: Der Buddhismus fasste auf dem tibetischen Hochland Fuss und es entstanden die grossen Schulrichtungen. Gleichzeitig schufen tibetische Buddhisten wichtige Genres der buddhistischen Literatur. Auch der Dharma in Beispielen des Po-to-ba Rin-chen-gsal, ein fruhes Werk uber den Stufenweg zur Erleuchtung (lam rim), entstand in dieser Zeit. Er kombiniert Elemente des indischen Buddhismus mit einheimischen tibetischen, wie z. B. Anekdoten, Sprichwortern und Zeugnissen uber Po-to-bas Zeitgenossen und stellt damit eine kulturhistorisch hochinteressante Quelle dieser Epoche dar. Die Monographie bietet eine ausfuhrliche Einfuhrung in den geistesgeschichtlichen Kontext sowie die Erstubersetzung des Dharma in Beispielen in eine westliche Sprache.
