Recent research focuses the development of fluorescent and colorimetric probes for ion detection. The phenomenal color change for the selective species by the chemosensor, called naked eye detection is one of the key advantages in this field. Beyond colorimetric sensors, Fluorogenic sensors are being applied in bio-imaging applications. This book deals with the synthesis and application of sensors based on benzimidazole, imine and azine binding sites towards sensing cations and anions. Monitoring highly toxic ions like CN-, Hg2+ and essential micro nutrients like Cu2+, Zn2+, H2PO4-and I- could be significant environment-wise and health-wise. This book also deals with relay recognition, one of the pioneering techniques in chemosensors field at which the receptor could possibly detect a species and forms the complex which will interact with another guest species either to regenerate the receptor or to form a new complex.
