Emery Morgan is a convicted criminal in the eyes of Lanteans, including her neighbors and the state.

But with more than one magical crown jewel missing, she and her reluctant partner, Loki, are the ones they send... because they're expendable.


The Enchanted Flatlands seem innocuous enough, but Emery soon finds herself trapped by steppe tribe rituals, suddenly responsible for, and tied to, a young tribesman. When a magical curse darkens the sunny plains and exposes a cruel streak, she and Loki are blamed, and retrieving the gem becomes the least of their problems.

Now, they have to escape to survive.

And yet, salvation might come from the most cynical of the two.

And if they even make it back home to Atlantis, nothing but hostility awaits...
