Yom HaAtzma'ut and Yom Yerushalayim are, in the words of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, "the two most transformative events of modern Jewish history." These national holidays in Israel, Independence Day and Jerusalem Day, are commemorated by Jewish communities worldwide with communal prayer services and celebrations. We do so "in the faith that it is not human beings alone who shape the destiny of our people but God working in and through His children." This Hebrew Mahzor is based on the practices established by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel for these two days.
