A book by Russian journalist and former special correspondent of Novaya Gazeta" Elena Kostyuchenko. The book tells the story of how Russia slowly slid into war. Kostyuchenko is one of Russia's best-known female journalists. In the first weeks of the full-scale Russian invasion of 2022, she worked in Ukraine and produced several texts for Novaya Gazeta that became important testimonies of the war and the crimes committed by the Russian military. During the war Elena Kostyuchenko had to leave Russia for Germany. Later, already in Germany, she apparently experienced an attempted poisoning.
