Emma's goal in life was to become a wife to her childhood sweetheart. However, six months before their planned wedding, tragedy stuck and the love of her life was killed in a skiing accident. He died in her arms atop a snow-covered mountain and she was helpless to save him. Driven by her guilt over Brock's death, Emma was determined to never again be helpless in the face of a life or death emergency.
