There is a great deal of talk about marriage these days. Everyone from gurus and politicians to talk show hosts and news anchors have something to say about this institution so dear to our humanity. But the great question we must ask ourselves is this: What does God have to say about marriage?

This volume deals with the Scriptural teaching concerning marriage, specifically focusing on marriage as a type or shadow of Jesus Christ and his church. The author's thesis is that the primary purpose of marriage, as instituted by God, is to display the gospel through serving as a typological representation of Jesus and the church. Furthermore, the relationship between husband and wife must be understood in the light of that greater purpose.

The author's hope is that this work will be useful to the saints of God. Our marriages are an excellent way in which we are able to share the truth and love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the on-looking world. The prayer of this author is that the Lord will fit us to be useful in his kingdom, and that he will bless our marriages to serve as faithful witnesses of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
