Birth, Death and Life In-Between
Marilyn Ashby
The narrative is laid out in two parts. Part One is the uplifting story of a woman named Marilyn, who is living with lupus and has survived cancer twice. It also shows the reader her undeniable strength, determination and optimism. She migrated from Trinidad and Tobago to the United States of America in 1989, and for most of her years in this country has experienced one health problem after another.
The book touches on her early days in this country when she and her sixteen-year-old son were adjusting to their new, unfamiliar surroundings and continues through thirty years of her life as she copes with serious unforeseen circumstances. Part Two chronicles portions of her mother's life which spanned over one hundred years of live history, rich culture, deep-rooted tradition and diverse relationships.
The narrative also includes heart-warming stories of family and friends, enjoyable occasions and humorous anecdotes.
Marilyn did not let her condition dampen her spirit or lessen her absolute faith in God.
