This story is about a little girl discovering Louisiana's Creole culture including good food, good times, and fun cultural experiences. Along the way Mama Gerry teaches her about cooking, music, dancing, gardening, family traditions, and the Creole dialect. The book includes traditional Creole recipes. The story features the author's parents Geraldine (Guillory) and Frederick Dargin. Geraldine and Frederick Dargin are people of Creole descent. They were born and raised in Louisiana in St. Landry and Acadia Parishes. They were married in 1956 and raised their six children (Bernard, Broderick, Eric, Letrice, Margarite, & Rebecca) in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
