Walt Whitman's name is all over Washington, D. C. There's a street near Gallery Place called "Walt Whitman Way." The Whitman-Walker health clinic on 14th Street Northwest is named, in part, for the poet. Walt Whitman High School is just over the state line in Montgomery County, Maryland, and a line from one of his poems is engraved at the Dupont Circle Metro entrance.
