Is the sky the limit to what girls can do? Until now, Jan has never asked herself this question.... Inspired by the first woman to rocket into space, Russian Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, Jan Calvin resolves to win her school's science fair because the winner gets to attend space camp and meet a real live U. S. astronaut. But then her teacher makes a stunning announcement: Space Camp is for boys only. Jan calls upon all her powers of ingenuity and persuasion as she searches for a way to reverse this rule, and the Rocket Girls are born. Working against the Rocket Girls are a snoopy newspaper reporter, a pompous congressman, a retired air force colonel, and-worst of all-a town full of people who believe the Rocket Girls are reaching too high. How will the Rocket Girls prove they are ready to reach for the stars?
