Charlotte Temple is a wonderful novel by the British-American author Susanna Rowson, published primarily in England in 1791 under the title Charlotte, A Tale of Truth. It tells a story of a young girl, Charlotte Temple, who is in love with a British officer and takes her to the United States, where she is abandoned, pregnant, sick and in poverty by this bad man. The first American edition was published in 1794 and was a great success for such an excellent novel
