Workshops Exploring Is Christian Morality Unique Part One, Money, Power and Relationship is based on the book with this name. It provides a summary of its chapters and also graphics to illustrate the major points. Like the book, the workshops follow an examination of the writings of St Paul. Paul based his moral teaching on the commandments, especially 'Thou shalt not Kill, commit adultery or steal". In popular jargon these relate to issues about "money, power and sex" and they also relate to key issues in world religions. Paul, writing in the 50's CE, set out the morality basis for the gospels. These were written down later around 70 CE (Mark), 85CE (Matthew and Luke) and around 100 CE (John). Arguably Paul and the early Church "raised the bar" of the social commandments by telling the followers of Jesus to avoid "blood, fornication and strangling". The implication here is to avoid cruelty as such, avoid using others without commitment and avoid unjust business practices. In modern industry these three things translate into a focus on the health and self-determination of others, the provision of social supports and the provision of material benefits to all.
