Marilyn enjoys hiking, bike riding, cross country skiing and kayaking, all with MissCharlie by her side or riding in a pouch. After a brief career as a RegisteredRespiratory Therapist, Marilyn decided to stayhome to raise her four children. Marilyn has always had a passion for theoutdoors. As a young girl, she took care ofmany wild animals and pets. She taught herchildren to appreciate nature as they spentevery day together exploring the ravine andpark lands where they lived. In 2005, Marilyn completed a yearlongcorrespondence course, "Writing for Childrenand Teenagers", from the Institute of Children'sLiterature and a three-month course, "Writingfor Children", from the Alberta College of Art. Once retired, Marilyn hopes to publishseveral of her magazine articles about animals, and write another children's book entitled, "TheAdventures of Grandma Lyn."About the IllustratorJennifer Young lives in Calgary with herhusband, dog, snake etc. ... This is Jennifer's first time illustrating aChildren's book, thanks to the ample free timeprovided by the 2020 pandemic. Jennifer is a 1986 graduate of theAlberta College of Art and Design. Upongraduating, she worked as a graphic artist at aglassware decorating company. Later, Jenniferdeveloped her own line of cartoon horsecalendars and t-shirts, inspired from owninghorses. Who owned who, however, was up fordebate. Jennifer is a nature and animal nut, surrounding herself with all manner of critters, rescues wild and tame. Who is wild or tame, however, is also up for debate.
