This book covers paediatric and adult radiological manifestations of tuberculosis (TB) in Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection (HIV). It is intended to be a resource for frontline clinicians working with HIV-associated TB in both HIV endemic and non-endemic settings. Interpreting radiographic images in HIV-infected patients is critical for doctors to appropriately and timeously diagnose and manage TB, for which chest radiography is a commonly used diagnostic tool. A good understanding of typical and atypical features of TB is therefore essential. This handbook is designed to be a quick reference guide for healthcare workers aiming to improve knowledge, diagnostic skills, clinical management and better health outcomes. Each chapter is introduced with brief referenced information about the specific TB-associated pathology being described. Cases presented have multiple illustrative radiographic images and include a clinical history summary. As new research and clinical experience broaden our knowledge in radiological features of HIV associated TB, interpretation of radiologic images require adaptation. Chest radiograph interpretation is done together with patients' clinical features and available laboratory results. In this handbook, TB refers to TB disease rather than TB infection without disease.
