Mike Pavlovich is a medical sales rep trapped in a bad relationship. One day he spies a painting of a 'Lonely Lady' and becomes infatuated with it. Against the wishes of his girlfriend, he purchases the painting. Mike gets caught in a horrendous thunderstorm on his way back to Pittsburgh and ends up in a small town. While his car is being repaired, he meets the woman in the painting. Over the next few days, they fall in love. Upon returning to Pittsburgh, he uncovers some unsettling news, the woman has vanished. Mike sets out on a journey to find out what happened to her. In uncovering the truth, his decision to be with her comes with consequences. His life will be totally changed, as well as history as we know it.
