This book examines five myths associated with the idea that the United States of America is somehow exceptional to other nations either due to the Puritan Work ethic or Divine Providence, neither being fact. In fact, American exceptionalism is no greater than British, French or German exceptionalism. However, when that belief in exceptionalism turns into nationalism, a nation usually finds itself on a slippery slope towards a fascist form of government.
