The authors of this book are members of High Country Writers. The editor is Mar Startari. This third edition of Headwaters, anthologies of works from High Country Writers, is being compiled and published at a unique time. The first pandemic in living memory has altered just about everything about the way we interact with each other. One thing that has remained constant for many of us, an anchor in the storm, is our relationship with books and other forms of the written word. Since 1995, the High Country Writers organization has been a group of people dedicated to supporting each other and others in the arts of writing and publishing in books and other venues. We continue to support the literary arts even as the venues ever expand. Some of our members are active bloggers as well as contributors in more traditional forms of journalism. This edition of the anthology contains submissions from local high school students as well as members of HCW. We welcome these new contributors to our efforts and value their works as our own. In addition to the regular submissions that were vetted and edited by organization members, we've included a separate section of "COVID Poems," reflecting members' response to their experience in this unique time. We hope readers find a connection with us through our work, perhaps inspiration, or just a pleasant interlude in their own busy lives.
