Imperial Blossom is a poignant love story adopted from one of the most famous and beloved Chinese/Cantonese operas, The Floral Princess, which had enjoyed a span of popularity for more than half of a century. It is a tragic tale based on the real-life of young and beautiful Princess Changping; the apple of her royal father, Ming Emperor Chongzhen's eyes, whose reign ended when his powerful general opened the gates of the Great Wall and let in the Manchu force to help him quell a rebellion by Li Zicheng (1368 - 1644). Before the capital of Beijing City had fallen into the hands of the rebels, Princess Changping was betrothed to handsome Prime-Scholar Zhou Shixian, but they were separated after a bloodbath in the palace. Had they ever been able to find each other again? Could their love endure the heartbreaking trials caused by the disastrous fall of the Ming Empire?
