Tom Mackenzie returns home after suffering serious injuries while working on a wildfire in western Wyoming and comes to terms with his strange journey to a spiritual dimension where he is able to overcome his decision to take his own life. Now Tom finds himself trapped in a netherworld of broken, spiritual gateways and humankind's Shadow Realm, the realm of the soul. As he attempts to find his way back to the physical reality, he is summoned to a mystical place. In this world, he encounters a family of sisters who live in a country manor house who are besieged by an evil whose goal is to destroy his wife, Nicole, even as she fights in her own spirit to overcome the horrors of past abuse and mental illness. Tom will do whatever it takes, nomatter the risks to his own spiritual and mental health to destroy this evil and assist Nicole in saving herself while trying to find his way out of the Shadow Realm and reunite with his family. But first he must solve the mystery of the garden house itself.
