Mike and Simon think they're onto something when they discover files related to a defunct project during their first week at work. The project, soldier-controlled cybernetic units, was initially meant to remove US casualties during combat operations but is scrapped due to the poor performance results and the continued effects of PTSD on the soldiers. However, they have an idea. By changing the video feeds to make them more "game-like" and by using younger soldiers who are used to gaming, they successfully remove the onset of PTSD and increase the performance results of the program. Yet their biggest success is when the project is accidentally accessed by the younger brother of one of the soldiers. Mike and Simon soon realize that children are far and away better at controlling these cybernetic units than any of the soldiers who were chosen to test out the program. So they devise a way to send out the program under the guise of a beta test of a new first person shooter video game. The results blow them away. Yet when three of the participants start to suspect that all is not as it seems, Mike and Simon have to decide on what is more important. The continued success of the project, or their morals.
