Amon Prince of the Black Carnage is the first novel in a fantasy series were written by Jacklynn Portis. The story takes place in Darkwood, also known as Myrvior. It is about the adventures of Savus traveling with a scouting party to explore new lands for the Iyaenid Empire. He follows a man who makes decisions that determine the survival of everyone involved. However, things seem to go wrong under his leadership, and Savus stands up against the injustice created by the Claster. When Savus speaks up, it resulted in him being betrayed and separated from everyone. He meets Grautr, an ax wielder who can breathe underwater, Nivee a half-elfan, and Martin, a two-blade swordsman. Savus also befriends a powerful god who guides him to ensure the dwarfs are protected. At the same time, they fight against the blood-thirsty Strigoi, the undead Draugr, and Ghouls threatening everyone's survival on their journey-including Amon, the son of Belynda. However, several challenges arise and have disastrous consequences for the warrior's plan. They become inventive, strategic, and sometimes making hard decisions to flee. The dwarfs use their crafting skills; Savus is the leader and thinker, Nivee is a spell caster and complainer, while Grautr is sentimental and honorable. Savus mistaken awakens a fierce dragon named Drankine, the Cattle Eater with Odin's horn. Luckily the warrior's life is spared from Azaria, the Dragon Empress. Their journey brings them to fascinating places, including a vast forest, an underground world, and the floating island cities old left behind by the Nazguls three thousand years ago, just in time to save their comrades.
