A novella inspired by a true Scottish horror story. Seeking redemption for a past sin, Rob takes a job as a lighthouse keeper on an isolated island off the coast of Southwest Scotland. This new environment is cold, dark and brutal, and is all the suffering he was searching for. From his first moments on the island, things seem off. There's this persistent smell of burning flesh, a patch of stubborn mould growing in the bedroom and a reoccurring storm that lingers on the horizon during the day and rages at night. Stranger still, Rob finds out that the Principal Keeper is on holiday and won't be back for two weeks, along with the rest of the supplies. Until then, he has to tend the light alone... A hideous secret, an unnerving workmate and a creeping madness within-will Rob earn forgiveness for his most heinous of sins? Or will he fall across the verge into nowhere?
