The Times, Life and Stories of J. W. Hale
Jr Gordon Sandlin Buck
J. W. Hale, my grandfather, was primarily a laborer working for railroad companies. but, apparently, he aspired to be a writer. Beginning in the early 1940s, J. W. Hale wrote a total of 28 short stories, plays or novels. He also began to write his autobiography but did not complete it. This book contains two of his short stories as well as his autobiography. Also included is a short sketch written by his brother, R. E. Hale, about growing up in Alabama during the late 1800s as well as a history of the Elizabeth Presbyterian Church in Alabama. A brief genealogy of the Hale and Bennett families is also included in the book.
