Francis Holman lives an enviable suburban life with wife Pam and daughter Maddie. He doesn't have riches or status. He doesn't live in a big house. His job is dull and predictable. But, unlike the frazzled social-climbers all around him, he's actually happy. Or is he?One day he's tempted by a job ad for a higher position at his company, and from that moment on his life starts to unravel. The ad coincides with meeting Adam, a young political radical at his workplace, who introduces Francis to an eccentric and possibly dangerous group of new friends. As Francis's involvement with the group deepens, years of bitterness and resentment fuel new feelings of paranoia and rage. Maybe he's simply been asleep for all these years. Now that he's awake, he wants to wake everyone else up, too - with an act of violence that will reverberate around the world.
