Maybe you've tried to learn the piano before. Maybe you've given up. Maybe you're searching for something that's missing from your last how-to piano book. Many methods focus on teaching you all the basics in one key signature, usually C Major, because it's easiest to navigate on the keys. After playing dozens of songs in C Major, or sometimes an entire book of songs, you finally graduate to the next key where you'll need to learn dozens of songs in that key before mastering it. This method often leads to frustration when you're finally introduced to a new key as it feels totally foreign. The Key By Key approach focuses on learning only a few songs in each key and then moving on to the next to fully immerse you in the world of piano. The reality of the music realm is only some songs are written in C Major! No matter what kind of music you want to play, you'll need to know how to play in all eight of the most commonly used keys, and eventually it's helpful to know all 24. Think of each key signature as its own room down a long corridor of closed doors. Each of the 24 doors, labeled with their unique key name, is locked as you first move in to this eclectic, antique castle. Now picture each unit of this book as a key that you discover and learn how to use. Now you can enter each room and familiarize yourself with its individual decor and vibe along with the techniques you'll need to live comfortably in each environment.
