John, a former militia-man, comes across the bridge to the timeless, haunted grounds of Everbridge Manor. He has suffered some grave injuries, yet does not remember how he came by them. While being nursed back to health by the beautiful and mysterious Lenore, John has strange encounters with the other residents of the manor, who taunt and attack him in the night. Lenore knows more about his situation than she is willing to tell, so John must gather his strength and investigate the gloomy mansion himself. Will he find the courage to descend into the manor's dark, foul-smelling basement? Or do the answers lie in nearby River's Edge, itself the site of some mysterious fires?
