Queen of suspense, Lucy Killebrew, has written her fifth book featuring her private investigator, Diamond Dust. The patriarch of a family in small town Envious, Tennessee, turns up murdered. Di is hired to investigate and finds much more than she bargained for. The dead man's wife is charged with his murder. When Di talks with her, she hears about spousal abuse and possibly battered woman syndrome. Other clues point to cold-blooded murder for hire, and Di encounters lies, deceit, greed and a person or persons unknown determined to stop her from finding out the truth. The climatic ending finds Di fighting for her life.
