After having lost her as a pup, Markita is reunited with her mother, Rakshasas, a powerful true born who practices the feral martial art of skin dancing, which allows her to freely shift between her two forms as well as a third, thus making her a deadly opponent in battle. BB's brother and Bob's uncle, Dreadfang, has also returned to pay his debt to Markita but upon meeting her mother, seeks a more personal boon from the she-wolf. With the Key West crew of Kit, Tim and Peter also visiting, along with the crippled werewolf Tim, Bob quickly finds the Christmas holidays turning into a holidaze for himself. To further complicate things, it turns out that the legend of the silver dragon who wished to make the moon his mate and the feral wolf who defends her wasn't a legend after all.
