One of the great truths in business ...leaders are more likely to succeed when spending time in the shoes of entry-level positions and any customer-facing role. Historical evidence proves many of the most successful C-suite executives started in these entry level jobs, which with strong performance at each position, rose through the ranks over a decade or more. More commonly today, the career ladder is akin to the board game Chutes-and-Ladders where each time one "chutes" down or "ladders" up, the next move is in a role with a different employer. This means there are many required times to get first-hand experience in the trenches. This story is exactly that, proving to myself, and sharing with everyone interested, what it's like to be in an entry level job, as a seasonal worker, in a new industry (for me) ...after an accomplished multi-decade career. Especially as of life in late March 2020, we all want to GO BACK TO WORK!
