It is the near future, and four teenagers are sent out on an expedition by an organisation known to them only as the Central Authority. As they go into the wilderness to explore a world recovering from disaster, they look for signs of returning life and the end of pollution and plastics which had caused so much damage. They know little of the world from before, but a mysterious new directive from the Central Authority helps them to discovery a buried treasure trove of newspapers and magazines from a world very different to their own. Together they discover a shocking secret as to how the world around them came to be, and the fight begins to tell everyone the truth about what the Central Authority really is.
