Pete from Orange
Rabin Bhandari
Pete, the boy from Orange, struggles in this shocking but entertaining environment. He and his Sri Lankan friend Gautam forge a partnership to combat the snobbery and the humiliation of Sydney Grammar School. Gautam serves as a humorous antithesis to Pete's character, contrasting their lifestyles and choices. From avoiding his over-worked single mother, to his first sexual experiences, to dealing with sexual abuse by a Grammar teacher, and the shenanigans of trying to sell drugs to private school kids, Pete sees a lot. Despite being the outsider, he comes to revel in the upper-class life. Does he end up as successful and as brilliant as Grammar boys should? The names are changed, but the events are real.
