Drones are becoming more relevant and pervasive in our schools and society. Students need to know and understand how drones can be used in STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math), as well as community service and professional opportunities like starting a drone business. The official FAA name for drones is Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) or Vehicles (UAV). For the purposes of this inquiry book, we'll use the more common name of "drone."Questions are the heart of inquiry and learning. We offer these questions to help guide students curiosity and exploration of drones and their potential in learning and research. We hope these questions elevate a student's knowledge and understanding of the safe, productive, and academic use of drones in schools and their community. These questions are just the beginning. We encourage you to answer these questions with fellow students and teachers, then add your own questions. And find those answers. In the spirit of the saying, "The question is the answer," we encourage your curiosity, your clear understanding, and your ethical actions towards making drones a safe and productive tool in your school, community, and world.
