The Light Sprung from the Hole
Haya Berkowitz
"The tongue has power over life and death; those who indulge it must eat its fruit." Solomon's Proverbs 18:21). Words' weight guides a person's way to his destiny. Or, sometimes we suffer because of another's harsh words. We happen to believe that we are victims of an injustice, and we react in a way that seems fair and legitimate to get out of this injustice. Still, things are not going as expected. Everything is undone, torn apart, destroyed and one feels sucked into a black hole. What to do then? How to overcome the test? How to get out?Judah was destined for kingship, but as gold or silver must be passed into the crucible to become pure, so must the man be thrown into the crucible to overcome his weaknesses in order to accomplish his mission."The righteous man falls seven times, and he gets up again." Proverbs 24: 16. The righteous gets up after each test because he knows that it is a new challenge to conquer. He does not seek honor, he seeks to strengthen himself in his struggle against adversity, and to acquire honesty, and humility. It is then that honor comes to envelop him. The journey of Judah is an essential lesson for all of us. It lights the way for us to fulfill our mission on earth.
