Now that I am 62 years old, I increasingly live in reality. When you grow up in a family with the presence of the psychological disorders PTSD, (hidden and open) narcissism, gaslighting (cunning manipulation technique of hidden narcissism) and TPS, I think to be living in reality. Because of the mutual (un)conscious influence and mutual (un)conscious manipulation, I seemed to be living in reality. Because I am interested in (para) psychology, I have studied topics that apply to our family. In combination with my therapy, I increasingly live in the "real" reality. As HSS, I have had many different temporary jobs in the Netherlands and outside the Netherlands, which means that I am now more aware of how people can be, even if they are family members. Biological family members are just people, like other people, in our world of around 7 billion people. I can build an emotional bond with people with whom I have no biological bond. I now have a very different vision about family and people. That makes sense. I don't need biological family members. Life goes without saying. I will be in contact with people with whom I have more in common. As HSP, I will be in contact with other highly sensitive people who are empathetic and compassionate. I will be in contact with people who are also involved in personal development. Because, myself, I change internally, I will attract more positive people. I now experience my reality in a more positive way than in my youth. And I like that very much.
