Glenn Flenniken's first book, The Early Years: The First Sixty or So... was published by Manor Publishing Collective in late 2019. This volume, More Years from Early to Later: The Stories Continue..., is his second delightful book of narrative poems and continues the allegory of Glenn Flenniken's life over his mere 95 years. His memorable stories in this volume cover young years, middle age and growing older. This work is an example of the legendary practices of good storytelling; an attempt to include features of humor and personal interest written in the natural spoken vernacular of his rural culture. Much like Mark Twain wrote about the Mississippi river, Glen Flenniken takes us by and through the farmlands and coastal regions of central and southern California and along with him on escapades than only a man of his generation can recall. You will find some irony, satire, and historical events of contrast and inconsistency, and topics which are just plain amusing to "poke fun at."No matter the subject or the time, these lyrical tales will escort you through Glenn's life with his unique style, insights and wit. As one of the last remaining representatives of his generation who remembers the depression, WWII, the Korean conflict, and so much more-you owe it to yourself to take it in. There won't be too many more "real-life" stories like these. Without his vivid recall, these commemorations would be lost forever. As his publisher, I am pleased that at 95 he is still producing more volumes for us to savor. -Sunny Baker, Ph. D., Publisher -- Manor Publishing Collective www.manorcollective.com
