This novel highlights the lives of Armenians living in the Central Valley of California during the decade spanning 1921-1931, a period of great change in America. Prohibition impacts on American values as the nation emerges from a sharp post WWI recession, flourishes, experiences excesses, and then plunges into the Great Depression of the Thirties. Armenian immigrants, most of whom are survivors of the Armenian Holocaust of WWI, are caught up in these events as they struggle to integrate into American society. -- Includes glossary
