Humans, like caterpillars, can break out of the cocoons of fear, insecurity, and emptiness they weave around themselves to explore a world of passion and beauty. Born and raised in a conservative family in Lebanon during the civil war, Annie cannot pursue her dreams of becoming a professional dancer. She finds herself following the path that her family and traditions have set for her from the very beginning. Getting married at a young age and making a family of her own, Annie's passions get buried even deeper as she becomes overwhelmed with the demanding life of a wife and a mother. It is not until she hears Soca, the music that speaks to her soul, that her passions are awakened again. Soca Annie takes you on a trip of soul-searching and self-discovery from the steep valleys of war-torn Lebanon, to a shallow life of luxury in Montreal, to the streets of Port of Spain, Trinidad, and the deep seas of Tobago where Annie aims to celebrate her own liberation at Carnival. But will she be able to find the right balance between being a homemaker and a star dancer Or will she be forced to sacrifice one for the other Packed with action, comedy, music, dance, and romance, this witty adventure inspires change, proves that anything is possible, and shows the spiritual side of Carnival and its beautiful emancipating nature.
